A Sweet Stuart Maternity Home Photoshoot
I had the pleasure of photographing Kylie’s maternity photos in her beautiful home at Surf House Stuart. Surf House Stuart is the perfect spot for not only a vacation stay, but for your maternity photo shoot.
Top Reasons to Have a Maternity Home Photoshoot
There are many reasons why you might choose to have a maternity photo shoot at home instead of a studio or outdoor location. Here are a few of the biggest perks:
Being at home allows you to relax and be yourself in a familiar environment. You won’t have to worry about feeling awkward in public or getting to an unfamiliar location on time.
Your home reflects your unique style and personality. A maternity shoot at home can capture these special touches, creating photos that feel even more meaningful.
You might prefer the privacy of your own home, especially if you’re feeling self-conscious about your body during pregnancy.
If you have other children, a home shoot can be less stressful for them. They’ll be in a familiar environment and you can capture candid moments of them interacting with you, their siblings, and your baby bump.
You don’t have to packs bags or travel! At home, you have everything you need at arms reach, from wardrobe options to comfy spots to take breaks.

What to Wear During Your Maternity Home Photoshoot
When it comes to your finding outfits for your maternity home photoshoot, or for any maternity photoshoot, comfort is key. You will be posing and moving around, so it is important to choose outfits that are comfortable. No matter what you choose to wear, the most important thing is that you feel confident and beautiful.
Here are some of my top tips:
Comfort is key: Opt for soft, stretchy fabrics that will accommodate your bump.
Colors: Neutrals and pastels like white, cream, blush pink, and lavender create a soft, romantic, and timeless feel. These colors are universally flattering and will put the focus on you and your baby bump.
Highlight your baby bump: If you want to wear a dress, choose a dress that will show of your beautiful curves. Empire waist dresses or separates that hug your torso and flow out over the belly are universally flattering for expecting mothers.
Fitted tops and bottoms: Try a fitted top that hugs your curves and pairs it with flowing maxi skirt or comfortable leggings. This combination is both flattering and comfortable.
Knit sweaters and dresses: Cozy knitwear is perfect for creating a warm and intimate feel to your photos. A chunky knit sweater dress or a fitted top with a cardigan can look effortlessly stylish.
Lingerie or sheer top (with tasteful coverage): Maternity lingerie can be very flattering and create a romantic and intimate atmosphere in your photos. If you’re not comfortable showing a lot of skin, you can layer a sheer top over your lingerie for a more modest look.
Avoid busy patterns: They can be distracting in photos.
Accessorize strategically: Jewelry and scarves can add pops of color or personality, but keep it simple and avoid anything too busy.
When You Should Have Your Maternity Home Photoshoot
The ideal time to book a maternity photoshoot is generally between when you are 28 and 36 weeks pregnant. By this time, you’ll likely have a beautifully rounded belly that will photograph well. You will also feel more energetic and comfortable than you will if you schedule your maternity photoshoot later in your pregnancy.
When it comes to scheduling the time for your maternity photoshoot at home, I like to schedule earlier on in the day to get the most natural light. Typically it would be around 11am. As your maternity photographer, I will help you decide the best time.
