A Jewish Wedding

As a wedding photographer in South Florida, I’ve had the chance to capture a variety of beautiful weddings, but Jewish weddings always stand out. They’re rich in traditions and full of meaningful rituals that make the day even more special. If you’re planning a Jewish wedding, here’s a look at some of the most iconic traditions that make these celebrations so unique.

Jewish Wedding Traditions

One of the most memorable moments to photograph is the chuppah — the wedding canopy where the couple stands while they exchange vows. It symbolizes the couple’s new home together, and the ceremony often happens outdoors, providing a gorgeous, intimate setting for photos.

Another moment I always love capturing is the Bedeken (Veiling). Before the ceremony starts, the groom covers the bride’s face with a veil. This tradition comes from the biblical story of Isaac and Rebecca and symbolizes the groom’s commitment. It’s a quiet, emotional moment that’s perfect for capturing the love and connection between the couple. For this wedding, the groom was escorted to the room full of guests where the bride sat in the center of the room. The groom covered her with her veil, then was carried off by his best men while everyone screamed with happiness.

The Ketubah signing is another important part of the ceremony. This is a beautifully decorated marriage contract that the couple signs before the ceremony, outlining the groom’s responsibilities. It’s a meaningful moment, and the artwork of the Ketubah often makes for a stunning photograph.

Then there’s the circling of the groom, where the bride circles him seven times. This tradition represents the creation of a new family, and it’s such a powerful moment to photograph as the couple takes this next step together.

Of course, no Jewish wedding is complete without the breaking of the glass. The groom smashes a glass at the end of the ceremony, and everyone shouts “Mazel Tov!” It’s a reminder of the fragility of life and a commitment to stand by each other through everything. It’s always a fun, lively moment that marks the end of the ceremony and the start of the celebration.

For me, as a photographer, documenting these traditions is a way of telling the full story of the couple’s day. Each tradition adds a layer of depth to the photos, capturing not just the love between the couple, but the cultural significance that makes their wedding day one-of-a-kind.

If you’re planning a Jewish wedding in South Florida, it’s important to find a photographer who understands these traditions and can capture them in a way that honors their meaning. I’m here to make sure those moments are beautifully preserved for you to look back on for years to come. Here is a sneak peek of a jewish wedding photographed in beautiful Miami.

A Jewish wedding is full of meaning and beauty, and I’d love to help you document it. Let’s make sure your special day is captured perfectly, and I would be honored to capture this special day.
